My Life Currently

I have started noticing that during the week I don't do a whole lot. In fact you could say I'm a Nana. I'm usually always in bed by 9:00/9:30pm and I rarely hardly ever, okay who am I kidding, never go out on a week night (not even Friday nights).

Part of this will be because a lot of my friends have kids and/or work on Saturdays (including myself - working on a Saturday) and also because we are currently trying to save some money towards buying our first home and our holiday we're taking in November to Melbourne to celebrate our 1 year Wedding Anniversary.

Once the weekend rolls around we again don't do much, Saturday's I am working and the hubby is playing football which leaves little time to do much on those days. Saturday nights we occasionally go out but lately we have been staying in with a dvd and entertaining on the cheap. Sundays are usually what we like to call our errands day, we go shopping for anything we might need (presents, clothing, makeup - for me haha, any new season items or things we need for our room), we also use these days to visit my grandparents and see the hubby's parents. Occasionally we will meet up with friends and do something exciting.
Writing this post does make it sound like we don't do a whole lot, which I'll admit we don't, but it also sounds like we have no lives haha. Which is contrary to belief, but we do find that because we are currently living with my parents we don't do a whole lot. Because we don't currently have our own place, we can't exactly buy home items or do gardening etc and because we don't have kids we don't do activities a lot. Plus saving means we don't have a lot of splurge money to spend on expensive activities.

Lately all my weeknight activities have involved updating my blog design and making it look more professional. Updating my Facebook Fan Page (find it here!) to make it more streamlined with my blog. Oh and watching 7th Heaven online - I decided last week that I would watch every episode of 7th Heaven starting at Season 1 Episode 1 and ending with Season 11.

I do the above most nights except for Tuesday nights when I attend my night class, studying towards a Certificate in First Steps To Business and Wednesday nights when I have Family Home Evening with the local missionary sisters from my ward.

I have a couple of interesting things coming up over the next couple of weeks, and I'll make sure to remember to take my camera along with me so I can take a few photos to share with you all here :)

Until next time.... here's hoping my life becomes more interesting otherwise this blog might become very boring very quickly.

Life Update

I haven't posted for a week and although that is pretty slack in the blog world, going a week between posts for me is an achievement.

I figured a life update post would be good idea seeing as not much has happened and the weather in these parts has been horrendous especially in the weekend just been so we have been unable to do much.

On the job front for me not much has changed, still plodding along with my Real Estate job (for anyone wondering I am the Sales & Marketing administrator for a branch of LJ Hooker - check us out here!). Although we do have a new phone system, which to some would not be that exciting but for us it is amazing! A bit hard to use, and not as simplified as our last system in terms of answering calls and transferring them around the office. BUT we can now transfer calls to the agents cell phones with is a total hallelujah moment. This function alone makes up for the complication of the whole system.

On the hubby's job front nothing has changed, he's still plodding along with his job. And in his spare time getting his fitness up for his Air Force entrance fitness test - which should hopefully be next month. This is our biggest goal we're working towards at the moment, everything we do is currently centered around this goal. We are really hoping he will get into the Air Force for the January 2014 intake. It will be an amazing achievement and a huge step forward for our little family and future family. Fingers crossed and prayers for this success please.

Speaking of Air Force, one of the hubby's best friends from High School (who we still spend time with) had his entrance fitness test yesterday. All going well he too will get into the Air Force for the January 2014 intake (although in a different job area than the hubby. This too will be a great step forward for his cute little family. And it will give me someone that I already know in the Air Force community which will help makes things easier. Fingers crossed and prayers for him as well please.

In the weekend just been the weather was appalling, not to mention the hubby and I were both working on the Saturday so we didn't get up to anything exciting. Sunday was spent running errands in the pouring rain but we did get to enjoy a Tank Smoothie and Sal's NY Pizza both of which were amazing.

That's all for now on the life update...this weekend we have a friend's 80's themed birthday party so I'll be sure to take photos and put up a post about it :)

1 week later....

I'm starting to get good at this whole blogging more often thing (if you think twice a week apart is good).
I think if I continue to blog every Saturday morning while at my Saturday job I should become a much more regular blogger. But we'll see how it really goes :)

This week has been pretty uneventful, I had a walk-in for Air New Zealand on Thursday evening for a job as an air steward (flight attendant) on their Trans-Pacific Region flights (Pacific Islands, Australia and Domestic NZ). Figures crossed I get a call back.

Not much is happening this weekend to write home about, Shaun is also working today (his one Saturday a month role as part of his job); he's also playing football this afternoon, an actual home game which will be nice for him and his team. Nothing exciting happening tomorrow, probably just a quick trip to the shops to buy mother's day presents and pirate costumes for a 5th birthday party we are attending next weekend (will definitely put photos and a blog post up about that). Oh we're also going to the in-laws (Shaun's folks) house for dinner Sunday night which should be nice, haven't seen them for a couple of weeks.

Other than that nothing to report on here, Shaun and I are both well still trying to get the wheels in motion for a Welcome Home Loan so we can purchase our first house together and also I am still trying to find a job 12 months after being made redundant. Keep us in your prayers as we try and fulfill both things - us a mortgage and me a job.

It's been a month...

Wow! I can't believe it's been almost a month since I last posted on this thing. Talk about lazy!
I have no idea where this month has gone, it's not even like we've been mega busy (okay, maybe we have been).

So far this month we have....gone to Sheep World, I have helped out my sister launch her business at The Grand Wedding Show {check her out here!}, applied for a mortgage to buy our first house {fingers crossed we get approved!}, Shaun has started up winter football season with Birkenhead United Football Club, Shaun and his team mates hosted a quiz night fundraiser to help pay for their fees, this weekend we're house sitting for Shaun's brother Chris, oh and we have a birthday party/bbq to go to tonight.

So maybe this month has been kinda busy, here's hoping next month will be more relaxed. Although so far it's shaping up to be just as busy with birthdays, mother's day, house auctions and me sitting my restricted licence, finally!.

Sheep World

On Saturday 23rd March, Shaun and I headed up to Sheepworld.
Located between Warkworth an Wellsford, its a great afternoon road trip.

We had pre-purchased discounted tickets off the discount site Grabone which made the outing much more affordable for us (we are saving for a house after all :]).

Here are a few pics from the day :]

Rotovegas!!

This post is a tad delayed (alright 5 months delayed!) but I have a good excuse reason why. You see I somehow managed to lose the cord for my camera that enables you to upload the photos to a computer, and I don't have a fancy computer where you put the memory card into a nifty slot on the side and away you go.
I have recently found the lost cord and am now able to catch up on posts about what we've been up to, in particular.... Our Honeymoon!!

Seeing as we were quite outrageously poor after the wedding, we decided to use some money gifted to us towards a honeymoon in good ole Rotovegas! or Rotorua for those of you not from Kiwi land.

We started our trip off with a stop in Hamilton at Hogs Breath Cafe for lunch. This place is amazing and has the best steak meals ever. And did I mention curly fries! To die for!

Then it was on wards to Rotorua for 3 days of fun and amazing food.

We went up the Gondola and checked out the Jelly Belly shop, a whole shop devoted to jelly beans of all different colours and flavours. We even had a go at Bean Boozled, lets just say it wasn't pleasant.

We checked out the Rotorua Museum and learnt all about the early days of Rotorua and their mud baths. Rotorua is famous for its stinky smell and glorious geo thermal hot pools, geysers and mud pools.

We also visited Rainbow Springs, 22 hectares of native trees, streams and wildlife from all over New Zealand.

Thankfully the rain held off until our final day, which wasn't too bad, as we were heading home anyway :)

All in all it was a glorious few days away from the mundane routine of every day life and a chance for us to bask in the fact we were finally married!

House Sitting

For the last week we have been house sitting Shaun's brother and his girlfriend's house in Glenfield.
And looking after their two adorable smoochy kitties Domino and Louie.

It's been nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of 5 adults all living under the same roof and have some peace and quiet just the two of us (even if only for a week).

We've spent the week eating all our favourite foods, lounging out on the couch, watching movies, eating popcorn and just relishing each others company.

Unfortunately Shaun has had to return back to work after having a week off for Christmas/New Years which has left me all on my lonesome during the day until he gets home around 8pm.

Sadly tomorrow we have to head back to the folks house and back to the madness.

Fingers crossed everything works out at the bank, and we get the mortgage we need to buy my grandma's house :)

Kiwi Valley Farm Park

Yesterday we (all 17 of us :]) visited Kiwi Valley Farm Park for one of our friend's son Chase's 1st birthday.

I highly recommend this place as a great outing over summer for kids and adults of all ages.

It was a great, fun day out making memories as we all grow older together into our married lives with children.

Happy 1st Birthday Chase!!
I hope you will enjoy many more great birthday memories with all of us in tow :]

Here are a few pics from our day out...
Enjoy!

Weekend Sports

Every weekend Shaun plays football for the local club around the North Shore and West Auckland. Every weekend I go along and support him and the team.

This week was no exception. Thankfully though the weather was gorgeous, beautifully sunny and a just a tad cold. Hopefully this means the last month of Winter and the beginning of Spring will be nice this year.

Here are a few photos of Shaun and the team for you to enjoy :)

Getting ready to leave the house.

Don't you love his bag :)

Few shots of them playing (Shaun plays in number 9).
