My Life Currently

I have started noticing that during the week I don't do a whole lot. In fact you could say I'm a Nana. I'm usually always in bed by 9:00/9:30pm and I rarely hardly ever, okay who am I kidding, never go out on a week night (not even Friday nights).

Part of this will be because a lot of my friends have kids and/or work on Saturdays (including myself - working on a Saturday) and also because we are currently trying to save some money towards buying our first home and our holiday we're taking in November to Melbourne to celebrate our 1 year Wedding Anniversary.

Once the weekend rolls around we again don't do much, Saturday's I am working and the hubby is playing football which leaves little time to do much on those days. Saturday nights we occasionally go out but lately we have been staying in with a dvd and entertaining on the cheap. Sundays are usually what we like to call our errands day, we go shopping for anything we might need (presents, clothing, makeup - for me haha, any new season items or things we need for our room), we also use these days to visit my grandparents and see the hubby's parents. Occasionally we will meet up with friends and do something exciting.
Writing this post does make it sound like we don't do a whole lot, which I'll admit we don't, but it also sounds like we have no lives haha. Which is contrary to belief, but we do find that because we are currently living with my parents we don't do a whole lot. Because we don't currently have our own place, we can't exactly buy home items or do gardening etc and because we don't have kids we don't do activities a lot. Plus saving means we don't have a lot of splurge money to spend on expensive activities.

Lately all my weeknight activities have involved updating my blog design and making it look more professional. Updating my Facebook Fan Page (find it here!) to make it more streamlined with my blog. Oh and watching 7th Heaven online - I decided last week that I would watch every episode of 7th Heaven starting at Season 1 Episode 1 and ending with Season 11.

I do the above most nights except for Tuesday nights when I attend my night class, studying towards a Certificate in First Steps To Business and Wednesday nights when I have Family Home Evening with the local missionary sisters from my ward.

I have a couple of interesting things coming up over the next couple of weeks, and I'll make sure to remember to take my camera along with me so I can take a few photos to share with you all here :)

Until next time.... here's hoping my life becomes more interesting otherwise this blog might become very boring very quickly.

Family Home Evening

Late posting...I wrote this last week & then totally forgot to post.  Better late than never. Enjoy :)

This evening (Wednesday 28th August), I attended a family home evening at the local chapel for the LDS church.

Personally I have never attended a family home evening before, or been part of one before.
From what I could gather, a family home evening is where you all get together and watch a message or two about Christ and have a small discussion about Christ in your life. Afterwards you all come together to share supper (Milo & biscuits).

I really enjoyed meeting some of the members of the ward and sharing in Christ with other like minded people.

I have always liked the way that LDS members are always so friendly and nice, and always take the time to talk to you whether you're an active member of an LDS ward or whether you're just there to check the whole thing out.

My Faith

In recent weeks my sister and I have made friends with the two sister missionaries in our ward for the local Mormon Church (LDS). Long story short - my sister and myself are not Mormon, we are Christians though, the sister's turned up on our doorstep looking for our father who is on the ward list (his family are Mormon, and for most of his child he was an active member of the church), he was not home but I was and quickly made friends with them. They are two delightful, wonderful, amazing women in Christ.

For the last 3 weeks they have been visiting our house and family once a week. The first week they came, we played a card game called Skip Bo together and just got to know each other and my sister and I learnt a little about what it was like to be a sister missionary for 18 months. The second week they came for dinner with the family.

This week they came and did a lesson with us. The lesson was on Christ's attributes.

First we made a heart from play dough and read a verse from the bible...
"But now, O LORD, You are the Father, We are the clay, and You our Potter; and all of us are the work of Your hand." - Isaiah 64:8
The bible teaches us that God is the Potter and we are the clay. When we are open to God's will in our lives, He molds, transforms and sanctifies us as we walk with Him in our journey. Just in the same way that we mold the play dough into the heart that we would like it to be, he molds us into what he would like us to be. Each one different, and yet the same.

They also talked to us about Christlike attributes and if we could pick one attribute that we would like to strive to have more of.

Christ's attributes are as follows:
Faith
Virtue
Knowledge
Temperance
Patience
Brotherly kindness
Godliness
Charity
Humility
Diligence
Obedience

Not on this list is Leader - my sister picked this one. She would like to become more of a leader and less of a follower.

Personally, I found it hard to pick just one Christlike attribute I would like to strive to be more like.
I think overall I would like strive to have more of all Christ's attributes. If I can strive to achieve a little more of all his attributes that would make me a better follower of Christ.

I know myself that sometimes I do not show patience, charity, humility, or Temperance. I also could do a lot better in Faith and Godliness, especially when it comes to my journey in Christ.
I think part of my lack of faith (maybe that's the wrong phrase to use), but my lack of strong faith [going to church, reading the bible etc] is because I have never found a church where I feel I truly belong, a church that I have connected with on a whole other level. Yes, I was baptised, and yes I did have strong faith when I first chose to be an active Christian after many years of dabbling in Christianity and attending Catholic high school, but as of late my faith has dwindled and I do believe that has a lot to do with not having close friends who share my belief in Jesus or a church where I feel I belong and am a part of.

Perhaps meeting the sisters has done me some good, perhaps this was all part of God's plans for me, perhaps this will enable me to be a better woman in Christ and to have better faith. I believe that God is still molding me into the follower he wants me to be. And this is all part of his journey for me.

I suppose all I can do is trust in the Lord and see where he takes me.

Life Update

I haven't posted for a week and although that is pretty slack in the blog world, going a week between posts for me is an achievement.

I figured a life update post would be good idea seeing as not much has happened and the weather in these parts has been horrendous especially in the weekend just been so we have been unable to do much.

On the job front for me not much has changed, still plodding along with my Real Estate job (for anyone wondering I am the Sales & Marketing administrator for a branch of LJ Hooker - check us out here!). Although we do have a new phone system, which to some would not be that exciting but for us it is amazing! A bit hard to use, and not as simplified as our last system in terms of answering calls and transferring them around the office. BUT we can now transfer calls to the agents cell phones with is a total hallelujah moment. This function alone makes up for the complication of the whole system.

On the hubby's job front nothing has changed, he's still plodding along with his job. And in his spare time getting his fitness up for his Air Force entrance fitness test - which should hopefully be next month. This is our biggest goal we're working towards at the moment, everything we do is currently centered around this goal. We are really hoping he will get into the Air Force for the January 2014 intake. It will be an amazing achievement and a huge step forward for our little family and future family. Fingers crossed and prayers for this success please.

Speaking of Air Force, one of the hubby's best friends from High School (who we still spend time with) had his entrance fitness test yesterday. All going well he too will get into the Air Force for the January 2014 intake (although in a different job area than the hubby. This too will be a great step forward for his cute little family. And it will give me someone that I already know in the Air Force community which will help makes things easier. Fingers crossed and prayers for him as well please.

In the weekend just been the weather was appalling, not to mention the hubby and I were both working on the Saturday so we didn't get up to anything exciting. Sunday was spent running errands in the pouring rain but we did get to enjoy a Tank Smoothie and Sal's NY Pizza both of which were amazing.

That's all for now on the life update...this weekend we have a friend's 80's themed birthday party so I'll be sure to take photos and put up a post about it :)

It's Official

I am now employed!!!

As of Monday I will be the newly employed administrator for RDR Realty trading as LJ Hooker-Harveys Mt Roskill :)

This is such awesome news, as I have been unemployed for 15.5 months since being made redundant in April 2012.

It's also awesome because it will make saving to buy a house that much easier, as well as give us some extra spending money that we haven't had for a while.

I'm excited for the oppourtunities this job will give me, both personally and professionally.

xoxo
